Why the Overhaul?

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the significant changes during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels TV.

Nigerian applicants can choose between two types of passports:

  • 64-page passport with ten-year validity: N70,000

Step-by-Step Guide to Applying for a Nigerian Passport

1. Verify Your NIN

The first step is to visit the official Nigerian passport application portal. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Enter your National Identification Number (NIN) and date of birth.
  • Complete the CAPTCHA.

If your NIN is valid, your data will be generated. If not, you’ll receive an error message.

2. Choose Your Passport Type and Processing Office

After NIN verification:

  • Select your passport type (32-page or 64-page).
  • Choose your preferred processing and collection state and office.

You’ll receive a reference number during this process. Keep this number safe for tracking your application status.
